Age Of Trials
We will be going with a slightly different equipment list for the Age of Trials. I want to have a more heroic feel for the game, so I will be looking to a Greco-Roman tech level to the game. Not all standard fantasy trope weapons and armor are commonly available, some will be restricted by culture, &c.
This would be a well-equipped warrior from the coastal regions. Breastplate, greaves and vambraces, helm, medium shield (wooden, of course), spear (or maybe a bronze short sword).
Common guardsmen and regular infantry would be less; perhaps a padded cloth chest covering, with leather greaves and vambraces, helm, small shield, spear.
Somewhere in between these two examples is lamellar armor, an early version of scale armor for warriors seeking greater flexibility. The Celts likewise used lamellar as well as breastplate in the later periods.
Chainmail is advanced beyond human technology; however, it is available in elven societies. Note, it will be only repairable by elven smiths, and would be considered wonderous by other cultures.
Archers are not unknown, but it is a hunter’s weapon. It is largely seen as the province of cowards and uncivilized peoples. Notably, elves and centaurs have no such qualms about using bows, although the reactions of other peoples will vary.
Late Celtic period sees warriors of very similar tech as the late Greeks. War chariots were also in use by both cultures.
